PCB

Working with PCB requires having the right personal protective equipment to protect against the dangerous substances that PCB contains. PCB is an abbreviation for a group of chemical substances that can accumulate in the body. The substances are absorbed through inhalation and through the skin and can be carcinogenic and harm fetuses. When working with PCB, it is important to work as dust-free as possible, which means, for example, using a knife instead of electric cutting tools.

If it is a remediation project where all PCB-contaminated

material must be removed, there are some special rules.

The work site must be shielded as necessary, and negative pressure must be established in the work area. Additionally, special tools with extraction and dust filters must be used.

Selection of equipment depends on the type of work and can be divided into three categories:

1. Equipment for use during light PCB contamination such as: sampling, replacing windows and doors, and replacing joints where electric tools are not used. Max 3 hours.

  • Respirator with P3 filter.
  • Disposable suit type 5/6
  • Nitrile gloves

2. Equipment for use during shorter tasks (max 3 hours) with PCB contamination such as replacing windows and doors, and replacing joints if electric tools are used.

  • Respirator with A2P3 filter.
  • Disposable suit type 4/5/6
  • Nitrile gloves

3. Equipment for use during, for example, environmental remediation, such as longer-term demolition and remediation projects containing PCB.

  • Turbo respirator with A2P3 filter.
  • Disposable suit type 4/5/6
  • Nitrile gloves
